The short version: Ozeret collects what it needs to introduce you to somebody and no more. It does not sell anything about you, does not carry advertising, and does not ask where your phone is.
What we hold
- Your name and phone number. The number is how you sign in, and how we know an account belongs to a real person.
- Your postal code, which is what places you on the map for people nearby.
- Your street address, if you give one. See below — it is treated differently from everything else.
- What you tell us about the work: how many rooms, what needs doing, when, what you pay. For a housekeeper: your rate, how far you travel, what you specialise in.
- Messages, reviews and photographs you send through Ozeret.
- Which kind of device you use — a phone browser, a desktop, the installed app — so we know what to build for. Not which device, and not where it is.
- Visits to the site, counted without cookies: which page someone arrived on, where from (a search, a shared link), and whether they signed up that day. So one person is not counted twice in a day, we use a scrambled code made from their connection with a key that is thrown away every day. We never store the address of your connection, and a visit cannot be linked to a person or to another day. Kept ninety days.
- If you agree to texts about your jobs: when and how you agreed (at sign-up, in the app, or in Settings), the language you use, and whether you have replied STOP.
- If you turn on notifications: the address your browser gives us for sending them, and which kinds you want. Turning them off on a device, or deleting your account, removes it.
Your address, and your phone number
Your street address is not shown to anybody browsing. A housekeeper sees the town and roughly how far away you are. The address is released only once you have booked that person, and the server withholds it until then rather than the app merely hiding it.
Phone numbers are never shown between users unless one of you chooses to share it in a conversation. Ozeret does not pass numbers around.
Your phone number, and your agreement to receive text messages, are never shared with or sold to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. The only outside service that receives your number is Twilio, which delivers the texts. Agreeing to texts is described in the Terms, and you can stop them any time by replying STOP.
Who else sees it
We use three outside services, and only these:
- Twilio receives your phone number, in order to text you a sign-in code and, only if you agreed to them, texts about your own listings and jobs. It receives the number and the words of those texts, and nothing else.
- DeepL receives the text of a message, note or profile only at the moment somebody translates it — because they read Spanish and you wrote English, or the other way round. It is sent to be translated and the translation is kept so the same sentence is not sent twice. Nothing is sent for text nobody translates.
- Fly.io hosts the servers the app runs on.
If payments are switched on, Stripe will handle them. Card details go to Stripe and never reach Ozeret's servers at all.
If you turn on notifications, each one travels through your phone's or browser's own notification service — Apple's, Google's, Microsoft's or Mozilla's, depending on the device. It is encrypted so that only your device can read it; the service carries it without seeing what it says.
We do not sell your information, and we do not carry advertising. Nobody else receives anything except as set out above, or where the law requires it.
Where you are
Ozeret works out distances from the postal code you typed, using a public list of postal codes that lives on our own server. It never asks your device for its location, and nothing about where you are goes to anybody else.
Who at Ozeret can see it
Ozeret is small. An administrator can read the data in order to run the service — to find out why a text did not arrive, or why a booking looks wrong. Nobody reads conversations for any other reason.
How long we keep it
While your account exists, we keep what is above. Sign-in codes expire within minutes. A look-around session gets its own private copy of the data, which is deleted within a day and never touches anybody's real account.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account in Settings at any time. Your name, your phone number, your home or profile, and your messages go, and no more texts are sent.
One thing survives, and we would rather say so plainly than have you find it. We keep a one-way fingerprint of your phone number — a hash, from which the number itself cannot be recovered. It exists for one reason: so that deleting an account and signing up again does not hand out a second free trial. It is not your number, it cannot be turned back into your number, and it is not used for anything else.
Children
Ozeret is for adults arranging work. It is not for anybody under 18, and we do not knowingly hold information about children.
Asking us about your data
Write to hello@ozeret.app and ask for a copy of what we hold about you, or for it to be corrected or removed. Depending on where you live you may have a legal right to these things; we will do them either way.
Changes
If this notice changes in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app rather than quietly reposting it.
